Description

Buttery, savory, and ready in minutes, this hibachi shrimp recipe brings the Japanese steakhouse flavor home with just a skillet and pantry staples.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari)
  • 2 tbsp mirin (or dry sherry/rice vinegar)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Pat shrimp dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, mirin, and black pepper.
  3. Heat skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  4. Melt butter and sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
  5. Add shrimp and coat with butter.
  6. Pour in sauce and toss to glaze.
  7. Sauté for 4–5 minutes until shrimp turn pink and curl into a “C”.
  8. Serve hot with hibachi veggies or steak.

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure a good sear. Use tamari for a gluten-free version and adjust the heat level with chili flakes or sriracha if desired.
