Description

Imagine diving into a bowl of pillowy gnocchi enveloped in a rich, creamy sauce with perfectly seasoned ground beef. This Ground Beef Gnocchi recipe transforms simple ingredients into a restaurant-worthy meal ready in just 25 minutes. Perfect for busy weeknights when you crave something hearty and satisfying without hours in the kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (454g) lean ground beef
  • 16 oz (454g) shelf-stable potato gnocchi
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 45 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Dice onion and mince garlic. Measure out remaining ingredients.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add diced onion and cook 2-3 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef, breaking it apart. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook 5-7 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  5. Add tomato paste, stir for 1 minute to coat the beef.
  6. Pour in beef broth, scrape bottom of pan to release flavor.
  7. Add uncooked gnocchi and stir to coat.
  8. Pour in heavy cream, stir, bring to a gentle simmer, and cook 3-4 minutes until gnocchi is tender and sauce thickens.
  9. Reduce heat to low. Stir in Parmesan until melted. Adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  10. Remove from heat and let stand 2 minutes to thicken. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

For best results, don’t overcook the gnocchi. Use 85/15 ground beef for added richness, and allow the dish to rest before serving for a thicker sauce.
