- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup milk (or almond milk)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (or coconut oil)
- 1 ½ cups diced apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Peel (optional), core, and dice apples into small chunks. Toss them with a sprinkle of cinnamon and brown sugar.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, mix brown sugar, egg, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and fold in the diced apples.
- Scoop the batter onto the baking sheet, spacing each fritter apart.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to make the glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters and let it set before serving.
Notes
For extra crunch, add chopped pecans or walnuts. Drizzle with caramel for a richer flavor!
